Spotify desktop mac black screen2/6/2024 ![]() ![]() For me, the issue is solved, at least temporarily. After I delected com.spotify.* from caches, app started to work fine, finally. Then, on another entry in this thread I found info about deleting the caches. But when I launched app without sudo, it was black screen again. So I got the idea that maybe Spotify is missing some permissions and tried to run it via sudo. At first i get the login prompt (which works) but after logging in im facing the same dead black spotify window as earlier. The -show-console launch produced lots of logs, with some errors about IPv6 multicast address couldnt be bound or something. I just tested installing spotify on a new, clean windows 10 pro (which never had spotify installed before) and still i get the issue. Then I tried to run it from terminal, to see if I can see any error message printed. From the Windows Start search bar, go to Check firewall status. Select them one by one and click the ' End Task ' button. Under the ' Processes ' tab, look for any duplicate Spotify processes. Or right-click on the taskbar > Task Manager. When I quit application and started it again - black window reappeared. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc and then choose 'Task Manager'. After prefs deletion Spotify app started normally and asked me to log in. After reading this thread I followed the advice to delete the prefs file. Web version was working fine, app had black window. I started to having the black window issue as well on M1 Mac, after upgrade to Sonoma. In the meantime, we will post any updates as soon as we have them. In the settings for launching the app on startup, try using "Yes" instead of "Minimized" and see if that makes a difference. You can do this either from the three buttons at the top or from the View drop-down menu When you get the black screen, could you try maximizing the window? That can cause the app to re-render and may resolve the issue.Do you have hardware acceleration enabled? If so, try disabling it and let us know if that makes a difference.Does this happen when manually launching the app from the Finder or when the app starts automatically on machine startup? Or does it happen with both?.In the meantime, so we can look deeper into this, if you have this issue on Mac, please provide us the following info, alongside the device model MacOS version and app version: We've been able to reproduce this internally too, so we're continuing our investigation. It should start up again and the Spotify window should not be blank. Scroll down till you see the Spotify processes kill the 'Spotify Helper (Renderer)' process by clicking the 'x' at the top of the window. Recent reports are showing that this issue seems to currently fixed on Windows but persists on MacOS. Start Spotify (should be the blank screen) Open 'Activity Monitor' select 'CPU' sort by 'Process Name'. ![]()
